Collinsonia Root (Collinsonia canadensis) - It
comes in powder and liquid.
Stone Root is found in Canada and in Florida. It has been found quite helpful in
aiding hemorrhoids. It improves circulation and venous tone, reduces inflammation of veins and
irritation.
Stone root has shown to be effective in treating hemorrhoids, catarrhal gastritis,
pain in the rectum, heart tonic, rheumatic inflammation, laryngitis, pharyngitis, clergyman's sore throat,
dysentery, ulcers, fistula, inflammation of the middle ear, acute cystitis, and vaginismus.
Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum)
-The seed of the horse chestnut tree has been used to treat
various vein conditions for two centuries.
Today, horse chestnut extract is standardized and commonly used by herbalists
and official medicine in Europe and Asia for treating hemorrhoids.
Horse chestnut(standardized extract - 20% Aescin) extract contains aescin, which has
been shown to reduce inflammation, improve vein elasticity, strengthen vein walls and improve vein tone.
The extract reduces abnormally increased capillary permeability and the related
edemas.
A review article published in 1996 summarizes observations of more than 800 medical
practitioners on more than 5000 patients with chronic venous insufficiency who have taken a standardized extract of
Aesculus Hippocastanum.
They conclude that all examined symptoms (pain, fatigue, tension and swelling of the
legs as well as itching) “have improved significantly or faded away. A suggested dosage of standardized horse
chestnut extract is 300 milligrams every 12 hours, for up to 12 weeks (containing 50 to 75 milligrams of escin per
dose). A dose of 600mg of chestnut seed extract per day has also been studied.
Japanese Pagoda Tree (Sophora
Japonica) - The Japanese pagoda tree extracts are effective
in strengthening vein walls, fixing the permeability of the veins and capillaries, and helping maintain vein
health.
The Japanese pagoda tree can relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids, such as the
itching, pain, and discomfort.
The leaves are a rich source of rutin. Clinical studies on Japanese pagoda tree
extract have shown that 94% of people taking Japanese pagoda tree extract reported that hemorrhoids
symptoms disappeared, their hemorrhoids being cured completely sor they felt significantly better as compared
to only 23% of those taking placebo.
Mullein (Verbascum thaspus)
-It is used as analgesic, antihistaminic,
antiinflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, antiviral, bacteristat, cardiodepressant, estrogenic, fungicide
herb.
Astringent (constricting) and soothing compounds in the leaves and flowers explain
why this herb has gained a reputation for soothing hemorrhoids.
Mullein may do more than simply soothe hemorrhoids. It contains tannins, which may
reduce the swelling that causes the discomfort.
In general, Mullein reduces inflammation and soothes irritated tissues.
Make a compress for this purpose by soaking a clean cloth in cooled mullein
tea.
Apply the compress to the tender area.
